| I was required to name my Frost Drake. Meet "Fudge". |
Wrath of the Lich King is officially over.
The Icecrown Citadel raid was the last in this expansion, and with it many guilds formed, many disbanded, and many have pushed through all the bosses and achievements and hard modes to come out at the end with a cool title and an awesome mount to match.
Nadala the Kingslayer, (that's me), was one such character.
It's been a really weird journey with lots of ups and downs. But yeah, after about 8 months of raiding a few nights a week, I have finally earned a mount that 10 million people want to get their hands on. (It's a rush flying around the major cities).
When Soulbound first formed it was 10 people who all wanted the same thing. We were driven by a common purpose and came together to kill the Lich King, and earn Frost Drakes. It hasn't been easy. We all come from very different raiding experiences and have different expectations of ourselves and others. People have joined us along the way, and unfortunately we've lost a couple of people as well, which is just something that happens in a game as volatile as Warcraft.
When Soulbound first earned their drakes, I wasn't there. I had a really important deadline for my Masters degree, and was unable to raid in order to get the work finished. If there had been a choice, I made the right one. I arrived home, shattered, worn out, and very emotional. I turned on my computer, loaded up Facebook, and the first thing I saw was my Guild Master's picture of her riding her drake. They had done it without me.
I was gutted.
But this week, we went back into Icecrown Citadel with the single purpose of getting me the achievements I needed to get my drake. I was touched that they were going back because of me (other people too, but this is all about ME!!!). When the Lich King dropped dead, and the achievement popped up on the screen, all the screaming and cheering on vent was mine. I felt nothing but relief and gratitude for everyone who had helped me get this far.
So, I'd just like to thank all the people who were involved.
Beth, Bert, Tel and the other raiders in Recall / Faithful who were kind enough to let me raid with them when I was considering quitting the game altogether - and for reminding me why I love it so much.
Jen, Valli, Sy and the other raiders in Soulbound who helped me earn my drake, and allowed me to join their raiding team.
Thanks so much guys. I really appreciate it.
Love,
Nadala

Actually, last night *was* just for you. We might get wyrms for the new guys, but it's not a priority, we'll just do achievements if they happen to be there and we're in the mood. The goal was to get them for the core team, and as of last night we're done :D And it's not bad, 9 wyrms, 9 people who stuck through it all the way... I never thought we'd get so far, honestly. Good thing I'm not in charge :P

Aw Bless Nads. You said thanks to us. Does this mean I did something right?
ReplyDeleteWell... when I taught you how to heal on your holy priest when I was a shadow priest - clearly you gave me the confidence to know I could do anything =P
