Therazane scratched the stones cracked along the edge of her giant form, and sighed in irritation. A lesser Earth elemental was charging towards her at an urgent pace, and she immediately recognised it as one from the Surface world. She leered down at him as he propelled himself in front of her, bowing his rocky hands to the ground.
Without a word, he lifted his small stone hand and Therazane noticed a piece of paper attached to it. Ripping it from him in a swiftness unexpected for her size, the Elemental messenger was relieved of his task, and promptly burst apart and fell to the ground.
As she stared at the paper, Therazane's expression changed into a rock-toothed grin of delight.
The piece of paper was in fact a letter from Nadala the Shaman.
A champion of the Earthen Ring, Nadala had led Therazane's forces to victory against the cultists of the Twilight's Hammer, and saved Deepholm, the Elemental Realm of Earth, from destruction. She was one of the only beings from the Surface world who was still welcome in Deepholm.
The Stonemother read the letter several times.
My dearest voluptuous Therazane,
I hope my messenger finds you well, I am sorry that I am not there to attend to you in person but I have pressing matters to deal with on the Surface.
I have followed the activities of the Twilight's Hammer to a Surface area known as Twilight Highlands. I'm not sure why I didn't think to look there sooner, considering the name, but I'm here now. I'm sure you have been able to feel Azeroth's pain as Alexstrazsa and Deathwing have clashed against it.
I am writing to you to request your aid.
I fear that Deathwing's escape from Deepholm had a greater effect on the earth than we first anticipated. Even after the World Pillar was restored, a corruption of Earth still runs deep in the heart of the Elementals.
I need your help with Rocky, the Greater Earth Elemental that I can summon to aid me with my Totem. Fighting along side him, I can see how the Cataclysm has affected his heart. Whilst my experiences have made me stronger - he is weakened, slowed in spirit, and failing at his duties. I feel that he has not kept up with my strength and increased power as a Shaman.
He feels the pain of Azeroth, and I fear it is corrupting his heart.
I took him to see Nobundo, a wise and revered Shaman on the Surface, and after inspecting his stone core, he told me that Rocky needs a rock-marrow transplant. If he doesn't get one soon, the corruption will spread to his rock-blood and we'll never be able to save Rocky. He is my hero in dungeons when our own human protector is slain. He shields me from enemies that appear in groups as if from nowhere when I am lost and alone. He is my helper, my friend, my Rocky.
The way of the Shaman is not as lucrative as you might think. We're always being undercut for our talents by Magi who use their powers to generate flashy teleportation portals, or juicy delicious mana cakes that melt in your mouth when you... I've lost my train of thought.
We need help. A donation of £8.99 a month to the Blizzard Foundation for Earth Elemental Research would greatly improve Rocky's chances of getting treated.
I beseech you, great Stonemother, to do whatever you can to help poor Rocky.
Good health, long life.
Nadala of the Earthen Ring
Ripping a fragment of stone from her side, Therazane began to carve her response...
